Eric has always strived to be a serial entrepreneur. He has owned and operated a variety of businesses since 1989, including emceeing beauty pageants, fitness apparel distribution company and supplements, and personal coaching services, while always following his passion for writing, speaking, and developing others to be their best selves. In late 2004, Herdman built a specialty retail business called “Red Rock Running Company” from the ground up, specializing in individualized, high level service. He worked from the belief that every customer should have an exceptional customer experience. Additionally, in a time when social media was in its infancy, he took to the web to advertise his expertise to a wider client base. By the time Herdman sold his store in 2011, the modest storefront grew from one location to three, and found repeated exponential monthly growth even through economic downturn.
In addition to his entertaining and informative programs, Herdman is an accomplished author. In 1999, his first book , “Actions Speak Louder Than Words” was published.. Two years later, he released “No! You Suck!” about personally improving one’s behaviors within the workplace to cultivate change. In 2005, he released a leadership and productivity audio/visual book entitled “The Complete Guide to Managing Everything, Everyone, and Every Task”.
As a keynote speaker and seminar leader, Eric has worked with some of the largest associations and corporations in the world, such as Pfizer, Check Free Systems, Golds, Gyms, World Gyms, Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Lab, and Los Angeles Housing Authority. In 2012, the largest franchise fitness center chain in the world contracted Herdman to turn around their personal training sales and service program based on his previous experience with his retail business. In a period of 4 months, he helped them reach over a $20,000 increase in revenue while also increasing the number of trainers.
